Treatment Application

Thank you for contacting me. There are a couple of ways to get in touch with me, depending on what you want.

Even though I am very busy, I personally answer every email I receive, and I do it promptly. I have developed a short form that makes this process more specific and efficient for both of us.

To make treatment more convenient, I often work weekends.

I am usually booked about two months in advance. Since many of my patients come from across the country and around the world, I can make recommendations for accommodations, restaurants, recreational activities in the area, driving directions etc. We will assist you in any way we can to make you visit to Spokane as easy and enjoyable as possible

Patient Screening

One reason I have a very high success rate is that I only accept families that I am very confident that I can help. There are some very specific things that help me make that determination.  To gather the information I need I have developed  an HFA Treatment Application. Though my book is specifically on ADHD, much of it applies to High Functioning Aspergers theory and treatment. I suggest that you read it before you proceed. You will be able to provide much more meaningful answers to my questions. And, my reply will be more helpful to you.

Costs

Since treatment is individualized to the needs of each family, I cannot give you a cost for treatment or  tell you whether your child is suitable for treatment until I have a completed Treatment Application. So, please complete this application before your inquire about costs.

***  Smoking ***

Unfortunately,  if any family members smoke, treatment is likely to be ineffective.  I don't fully understand why smoking predicts such a poor outcome.  However, in reviewing patients that have been unsuccessful. Almost all of them smoked. And, I do not accept patients for treatment that I am not confident that I can help. 

Thus, I do not accept smokers. Smokers should not fill out the treatment application..

I know this may be frustrating to you if you smoke, and I am sorry. However, it would be unethical for me to take your time and money if I had reason to believe that my efforts would not be helpful.

P.S. You should only fill out this application if you are considering coming to Spokane for treatment. As much as I would like to, I have no way of helping you without coming to Spokane. There are no other treatment centers in the world that offer CAER treatment.

Q: Are the medications that my child is on the right ones. Should I have his medications changed to  .....?

A: I am not a physician, thus I am not licensed to give specific medication advice. Medications are not generally used for Aspergers because they generally do not address the types of problems Aspergers patients experience.

However, because of the overlap between ADHD and Aspergers, many children are on the stimulants commonly prescribed for ADHD. All of  these medications used for ADHD have severe side effects that you should be aware of before you consider any of them. Check out these websites www.ritalindeath.com, and www.meth-lab.com. Q: Do you have a treatment center in ................ or do you know some one in ............. who uses your treatment methods?

A: Since I invented, built and patented the CAER machine, I am the only one who has one. Thus, if you were interested in CAER treatment, you would have to come to Spokane for treatment.

Also, the problem with trying to recommend a local doctor is that their techniques do not tend to be very helpful. Behavior therapy, traditional psychotherapy, medication and social skills training do not tend to be useful for Aspergers. In good conscience, I cannot refer you for treatment that is unlikely to be successful.

Q: Will you explain to me exactly how CAER works?

A:  What I do is both theoretically and procedurally too complex to explain in an email. The best explanation is on this website.

Q: Can I call you on the phone and talk to you about my child/self...?

A: I would prefer to answer your initial questions via email since that is much more time efficient. i feel that I am very generous with my time, but to continue this, I must use my time efficiently. And email is much, much more efficient that telephone conversations.

However, I will be glad to speak with you after your initial questions have been answered by email. If I have this background, our conversation can be much more productive.
